Native Apps
There are a few approaches to take when building any app. You can build a native app or a web app. A native app will only work for certain types of devices. For example, you could build an IOS app which will only work exclusively for certain Apple products like iPhones or iPads, but not for Android devices. If you wanted to have this same app built natively for Android devices, a new project would have to be initiated. There would be, essentially, two projects to maintain…which would require a bigger budget. However, native apps have been found to be more responsive than web apps.
Web Apps
The other approach would be building a web app. Essentially, this means building an app harnessing the power of the web browser and using web technologies. And since mostly all devices have a web browser, this would mean that there would be only one codebase. This also means that the app would be accessible on any device: laptops, desktops, tablets, phones, etc.
